How do I become a friend? And what do they do?

You can become a Friend by completing the form linked below and bringing it to the library. Then participate in volunteer opportunities as they arise, including help with programs, the annual book sale, and clerical tasks around the library.

Book Sale Information

Friends of the Library Used Book Sale
Friday, Oct. 28 ~ 3-6pm
Saturday, Oct. 29 ~ 10am-6pm
Monday, Oct. 31 ~ 10am-6pm

When and Where to Make Donations:

Donations will be accepted starting Monday, Oct. 24.

What Items Will Be Accepted:

Fiction and Non-Fiction Books -  For adults and children.  Books should not be missing covers or pages or be extensively highlighted or underlined, or otherwise damaged.  Large print books are welcomed.  Please do not donate Reader's Digests condensed books or text books published before 2019.

Magazines - All magazines are accepted except for weekly magazines.  Comic books will be accepted.

Electronic Media - CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and records in working condition will be accepted.

Prices:

All Books 25 cents each

How to Volunteer to Help with the 31st and Tuesday, November 1st. Please use the sign-up sheet at the Library Front Desk.

Mission Statement

The Friends of the Library support the interest and well-being of the Shenandoah Public Library as a cultural, educational, and recreational asset of the city of Shenandoah.  The Friends promote library services and resources and expand public understanding of the importance of the library to the people of Shenandoah and the surrounding area.

Vision Statement

The Friends will enhance the perception and value of the Shenandoah Public Library as a pillar of the community.

Strategic Plan Goals

  • Goal 1 - Support and Assist the Library Staff.
  • Goal 2 - Develop, Initiate, and Sustain a Public Outreach and Information Program.
  • Goal 3 - Support and Create Diverse Programming for All Ages.
